Can I Use Surfactant to Fix Hydrophobic Potting Soil?

I'm wondering if I can use a surfactant that I have for applying herbicide on my lawn to help with my hydrophobic potting soil. It's supposed to target only the weeds, but will it help my house plants too?

Yes, you can use that surfactant for your hydrophobic potting soil. It should help make the water penetrate better, allowing your plants to absorb moisture more effectively.

Before going with the surfactant, have you tried soaking the pots in water or using bottom watering techniques? Those methods often work really well for hydrophobic soil. It's a good idea to give them a shot first!

Just a tiny drop of regular liquid soap might do the trick too! But watch out, I've read that using dish soap can mess with the pH levels of the soil.
