Hey everyone! I'm wondering if the M12 rivet tool (model 2550-20) is actually compatible with installing rivnuts. If it isn't, I'm looking for recommendations for a suitable power tool that can do the job. I have a big project coming up where I'll need to use rivnuts frequently, and I'm not too keen on using some budget tool from Amazon. Any insights would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Unfortunately, the M12 rivet gun is not compatible with rivnuts. I’ve talked to Milwaukee about this before, and it seems an air-powered tool would be a better option if you want reliable results.
Honestly, I can't give you any solid info on the M12 rivet gun, but it seems like anything has to be better than that Meiwaltee rivet gun I picked up for a dollar. It might be worth looking into more reliable options if you're going to be using it a lot.
Bottom line: the M12 won’t work for rivnuts. I wish there was a more budget-friendly solution for those of us who use them occasionally, but investing in a pro-grade tool seems necessary for quality work.
I have the Marson 39300 manual tool, and while I modified it to use the rivnuts, it does require a good bit of effort. If you already own the 2550, some folks say the 1/4" head from the M18 kit can fit, and it might have enough power to work with rivnuts, but it involves some custom modifications. Just keep in mind that it could be complicated and isn't guaranteed to work perfectly.

Thanks for confirming! I pretty much figured that would be the case.
