Hey everyone! I'm in the middle of a shower renovation, and my contractor mentioned using Two-Ply Jumbo Tex as a layer on the walls. I've primarily known about waterproofing systems like Hydroban, Kerdi, and using RedGard over cement board for protection. So, I'm wondering if Two-Ply Jumbo Tex is an acceptable option here or if I should stick to the traditional methods.

I did some digging, and Two-Ply Jumbo Tex is more tailored for exterior protection rather than shower walls. It’s designed to handle moisture behind stuff like stucco or siding, not necessarily for high-moisture areas like showers. I recommend sticking with products specifically made for bathrooms. It's just safer that way!

But if there's plywood underneath, could we put cement board on top of that with the Jumbo Tex underneath?
