I'm wondering if unbleached parchment paper, specifically from the 'If You Care' brand, would be effective for smothering weeds under a raised garden bed. I'm planning to fill the bed with about 10 inches of soil. Is that thick enough for this method to work?

I don't think parchment paper is up to the task against stubborn weeds. It's pretty flimsy, and for a raised bed, you might need something thicker. I use cardboard—sturdy and gets the job done! By the way, I’ve seen unbleached floor protection paper at Home Depot; it could work if you layer it up to 3 or 4 times.

I recently found out about floor protection paper, too! Seems like it might be a better option for weed control.
