I'm curious about how effective products like Miracle-Gro and various plant nutrients are when used with basic, inexpensive soil for a raised garden bed. Will they actually make a difference?

Totally! I've been gardening like this for years before I upgraded my soil. Using water-soluble fertilizers can get pricey, though. I found that just mixing in some slow-release granular fertilizer and a bag of compost each year really makes a big difference over time. Good luck and enjoy your gardening! 🙂
