Hey everyone! I just found out that my newly bought home (built in 1993) has mold mites, and I need some clarity. The previous owners had four cats, and even though I did a home inspection before buying three months ago, I didn't notice any signs of mold. Now these mites are causing health issues for us, which is very concerning. I'm wondering whether mold has to be present for these mites to be around, or can they exist in just high humidity conditions? Also, what can I do to resolve this situation? I feel misled since I paid over the asking price, and now tackling this issue might set me back thousands. I'm not sure where to start!

Mold mites are generally found in damp, humid areas and usually feed off mold and yeast. You should definitely check the humidity levels in your home. Look in places like the attic, under sinks, and behind the toilet to see if you can find any moisture issues. It might be a good idea to rent or buy an infrared camera to help spot moisture hidden in the walls or floors.

Thanks for the tip! Should I not stress too much about mold being in drywalls and under floors just yet? This is really stressing me out.
