Can My Electrician Install Wiring Without the Lights?

Hey everyone! So, my wife changed her mind about the pendant lights we bought, and the electrician is scheduled to come by tomorrow morning. I had planned to show him the lights, but now we're not sure what to do. Is it possible to let him handle the electrical work and finish the installation later when we pick out new lights? Will he need to know exactly what we're putting in, or can he get the necessary wiring done without the fixtures? I'm kind of lost here, thanks for your help!

If you know where the lights are going, he can set up the wiring and boxes now. You can always attach the fixtures later when you decide on new ones. Just give him a heads-up, and it should be fine!

Yeah, he can definitely get everything set up for you! Just have him install the ceiling boxes and connect everything to the circuit, then cap the wires and put on temporary covers. You can handle the actual light installation later—it’s usually pretty straightforward if you follow a tutorial. Just make sure to turn off the breaker before you start messing with anything!

I totally agree! Let him deal with the wiring, that’s the tricky part. Installing the lights can be a DIY job once you have the setups ready.

Yeah, it’s really not hard to install the lights later. Just grab a ladder, a screwdriver, and follow some online guides!

It’s usually best to have the actual fixtures on hand when the electrician arrives. If you don’t, you might just pay for a cancellation, which seems pointless. Try to get your new lights picked out as soon as you can!

Yeah, having the fixtures ready is the way to go! No sense in doing half a job.

Good call. Better to wait a bit than to have to redo things!
