Can My Houseplants Thrive Under Grow Lights Alone?

Hey everyone! My partner and I are moving to a new city for work soon, and the only places we can afford are basement apartments, which don't get much natural light, if any at all. I'm worried about my plant babies! I have 3 monsteras, 2 crotons, a transcendia, a soon-to-be freshly potted pink rubber plant, and some Hoya propagations. If I invest in grow lights, will they be okay without any natural sunlight? Any advice would be really appreciated!

You'll definitely need several grow lights, though. They can add up in terms of electricity costs—something to consider if you're on a tight budget. If that's a concern, it might be worth thinking about rehoming some plants or taking cuttings while you settle in. Just a thought!

Yeah, I hear you! I was worried about costs, but I was hoping it could work out.

Absolutely! I've been growing plants in total darkness without any natural light—it's totally doable with good grow lights. Just make sure you get the right type and intensity.

Sure, your tropical plants can live on grow lights. It might feel a bit expensive to set up, but it will make your basement feel bright and welcoming! I'd recommend checking out this grow light that’s specifically great for tropicals and even works for succulents: (https://www.sansiled.com/products/40w-adjustable-4-head-clip-on-led-grow-light).
