Hey everyone! I'm curious if anyone has successfully used ozone treatment to eliminate cigarette odors from their apartment and what the long-term results were like. I just moved into a rental and there's a lingering smell of stale cigarettes that sticks to my clothes, which has been affecting my health. The apartment isn't heavily smoke damaged, but I can definitely tell someone smoked here based on the smell and some brown residue on the surfaces. I've already cleaned everything and ventilated it for a few days, but the faint smell remains. I plan to use an ozone generator for about 15 minutes in my small bedroom and then ventilate for a whole day after that. Is that sufficient to tackle the smell? Any tips or experiences would be much appreciated!

Consider running your ozone machine all day while you're out, or using its longest setting if it has a built-in timer. When you return, ventilate the space by opening all the windows and maybe go grab dinner or something. Just remember to let it run long enough to make a real difference!
You might want to run the ozone generator for longer than 15 minutes to let it really do its job. More time gives the ozone a chance to oxidize the organic materials causing the odor. If you're allowed, a fresh coat of paint afterward could help seal in any remaining smells too!
That makes sense! I have a powerful 25,000 mg generator, so I want to be cautious but effective.
Have you checked with your apartment management? It might be worth asking if they can move you to another unit if the smell is bothering you that much. Sometimes they have options available!

Great idea! I’ve heard I should keep it to a max of 30 minutes for my small room since it's a large capacity generator.
