Hey everyone! I'm working on a project for a client who loves the look of pine. I've typically used hardwoods for table bases and legs, so I'm curious: is pine a reliable option for dining table legs, or is hardwood the better choice? Also, are there any woods you recommend avoiding for structural supports like table bases? Thanks for your help!

As long as you pick good quality pine—look for straight grain and knot-free pieces—you should be good to go! Just a heads up though, pine can dent more easily than hardwoods, so let your client know to be cautious.
Pine is totally fine for table legs! Lots of people use it for their tables and it actually looks great. Plus, it's budget-friendly and eco-friendly too. Just keep in mind that it can be softer than hardwood, so it might get a few dings and scratches here and there.
Using pine for dining table legs works just fine! It's strong enough to handle the weight of dishes and everyday use. If you want extra durability, consider using a hardwood core with a pine veneer on top. Also, for added protection, you could put hardwood tips at the bottom of the legs to minimize wear.
