Can Solar Lights Help Keep Slugs Away from My Dahlias?

I'm considering adding solar lights around my dahlia beds to deter slugs from munching on them in the evening. Has anyone tried using solar lights for this purpose? If so, did they find it effective? I've already set up some lights by my hot tub, and I think my Hostas look better this year compared to last, but I'm curious about the impact on dahlias specifically.

One trick I've heard is to use shallow bowls of beer. The slugs are attracted to it and then get trapped! It might be messy, but it can help reduce their numbers.

I get that, but then you have to deal with those dead slugs, which is kind of gross!

Dahlias can probably handle being lit up for 24 hours, but I'm not sure if they'd actually enjoy it. Solar lights create a different type of light than the sun, and that could affect them in ways we don't fully understand.

But it's not real sunlight, right? So it might not be as beneficial.
