I just picked up the Milwaukee screwdriver model 2401 from Home Depot for $79.99, and I'm curious if it could serve as a substitute for my older Craftsman drill, which doesn't accept hex shank drill bits. Is the 2401 strong enough for drilling tasks, or is it considered a weaker option?

The Milwaukee 2401 is more of a screwdriver than a full-on drill. It takes 1/4-inch hex bits, so it won't work with regular drill bits like your Craftsman. Just keep that in mind when you're tackling drilling tasks!
You can do some light drilling with it, especially since it has a drill setting in the clutch. Just remember you'll need 1/4" hex drill bits, and it might be a bit wobbly. Overall, it's better for driving screws rather than heavy drilling!
While the 2401 can handle driving screws and light drilling in softer materials like pine, it's not the best for heavy-duty work. It's perfect for delicate tasks, but if you're looking for something more powerful, you might want to check out the M12 Fuel Drill and Driver kit. It has that extra oomph when you really need it!

Thanks for the tip! That M12 Fuel kit sounds promising and might be worth the investment for tougher jobs.
