Can Unseen Mold in My House Be Dangerous?

I just moved into a new house, and there's a lot of leaking from the ceiling due to a bad roof that's supposed to be fixed soon. I've noticed some water spots on the drop ceiling, but I haven't found any visible mold yet. I'm really curious if mold could still be present in areas I can't see, and whether that could pose any health risks.

For sure! Mold spores are everywhere, and we breathe them in every day. If there's moisture in your house, mold is likely growing somewhere you can’t see. You can't tell just by looking. If you suspect there’s an issue, getting a moisture sensor might help. Some molds are hazardous, so getting a pro to check things out is a smart move, especially with those water spots you've mentioned.

You're right to be cautious! Unless you've got X-ray vision, you can't see mold hiding behind your walls or in other hidden nooks. A lot of mold can live behind drywall without showing itself. If you have active leaks and water damage, it’s really worth calling in a mold inspection specialist to see what's actually going on before it becomes a bigger problem.

Yes, mold can definitely be present in places you can't see, especially if there's moisture involved. If your home is dry and well-ventilated, you typically won't have mold issues. However, if you've got leaks and water spots, it's very likely you have some hidden mold. It's a good idea to keep an eye on moisture levels and consider a mold inspection if you're concerned.
