I'm considering upgrading my Stanley 26 transitional plane by adding a 2" fore plane blade, but I'm struggling to find one that fits. I've looked around but mostly found regular or narrower irons. I'd prefer not to grind down a flat iron myself. Any suggestions on where to find a suitable 2" fore plane iron?

Are you perhaps looking for a cambered iron? They typically come straight from the factory, and you can easily add your own camber. Personally, I'd recommend just getting another plane dedicated to each function, as it makes the workflow a lot smoother. This way, you can grab each one as needed and keep moving along with your work.

I totally agree with you on having dedicated planes! I did the swapping thing for years, and honestly, I wish I'd invested in a second jack sooner. If you're just getting started, swapping might be easier, but having both a coarse and a 'fine' jack really makes a difference during stock prep.
