Can You Install a Murphy Bed on a Dot and Dab Wall?

Hey everyone! We recently bought a second-hand wall bed, totally oblivious to the fact that our walls aren't built like others — who knew, right? It turns out we've got dot and dab walls, which are plasterboard over an air gap and then breeze block. We had someone install it, and it worked for a couple of months, but now the fixings have come loose and pulled out of the wall. We've heard that it might not even be feasible to install a Murphy bed on this type of wall and that any fixings we try will eventually fail. Has anyone here dealt with this? Does anyone have any advice or success stories? Or should we just give up and switch back to a regular bed? Thanks a ton!

It would really help if you could share pictures of your setup, especially the fixings you've used. Have you thought about using proper concrete fasteners into the breeze block? Sometimes, the existing fixings pull out if they’re not suited for the wall type. If the block has hollow centers, consider drilling bigger holes and using heavy-duty toggle bolts to secure it better!

I did get some pictures up here: https://imgur.com/a/3fnIQXV. The first fix was using CoreFix for dot and dab, and the second was with Diall hammer fixings. The installer suspected they wouldn’t hold. We also added a wood baton to support the bed.

I've had success with corefix plugs for my dot and dab walls. They’re specifically designed for this kind of setup; they go straight into the blockwork and have a steel core to help spread the weight, so the plasterboard isn't stressed much.

Yeah, we originally used CoreFix plugs too, but they ended up coming loose. Maybe they weren’t installed right, or the movement from raising the bed caused them to wiggle out? We’ve used CoreFix for our TV without any issues, so I was hopeful it would work for the bed as well.
