Hey everyone! I'm curious if it's really feasible to make a living from woodworking. Specifically, I'm thinking about crafting items like coffee tables, dining tables, chairs, and bookshelves. Is it practical to turn this hobby into a career?

Absolutely, you can make a living from woodworking! A friend of mine who does it full-time suggested focusing on items you can mass-produce quickly, like cabinets or bar stools. He can whip up bar stools in no time and sells tons of them. Personally, I find making the same piece over and over to be a bit boring, which is why I haven't taken the plunge yet.
There’s definitely money to be made, especially in millwork. Interior work like crown molding and staircases can be quite profitable. But if you're just making furniture, competing with the mass-produced stuff can be tough. Not many folks will pay three grand for a dresser, you know?
Sure, it’s possible, but it’s not an easy ride. You really have to figure out a profitable market, which is the toughest part. The actual making of things is much more straightforward compared to finding buyers. Just be prepared; it can be a grind!
