Caulk or Grout for Shower Seams? Need Help!

Hey everyone! My wife and I just became homeowners, and we've hit a snag with our shower. The gap between the wall tiles and the shower floor was originally caulked, but it started peeling, so we replaced it with grout based on my dad's suggestion. Unfortunately, the grout is now chipping and cracking, which is letting water through and causing some sort of red growth, likely bacteria. I'm looking for advice on how to properly seal this area. What's the right material to use, and how can we seal it effectively?

So, basically, you should use grout between your tiles and caulk at the seams, like where corners meet or different materials come together. This way, you get a better seal and avoid water issues!
