Chisels Upgrade: Which Brand Should I Choose?

Asked By WoodworkerNinja92 On

I've been using some really cheap, no-name chisels for a while, and I think it's finally time to upgrade to something better. I'm considering a few options: the Irwin Marples, the Stanley Bailey chisel set, and the Narex chisels. Does anyone have any thoughts on these brands? Or maybe there are other options that I've missed? I'm hoping to keep my budget around $75 for the set.

Honestly, if you can stretch your budget a bit, the Narex set might be worth it. They offer good quality and performance for the price. Brands like Union Hardware and Greenlee are decent options as well, but you'd have to look around for the best deals!

Just to clarify, are you budgeting $75 for each chisel? That would really limit your options! But if it's $75 for the whole set, that's much better. You might want to check out some second-hand shops or local classifieds - sometimes you can find high-quality chisels there for a steal!

I've heard really good things about Narex chisels, especially considering their price point. They perform well for the money, and you might find them a great upgrade from your current set. Just be careful if you're thinking about used chisels; some vintage brands like Buck Brothers and Witherby are excellent too, but it might take some time to hunt them down!
