Choosing Between 6.5″ and 7.25″ Gen 2 Circular Saws

I'm looking to upgrade my old 7.25" circular saw for something newer as a professional carpenter. I've been considering getting a Gen 2 saw and I'm torn between the 6.5" and 7.25" options. I like the 6.5" because it's lighter and has a cool belt hook that would really come in handy. However, I'm worried about losing the power that comes with the larger 7.25" blade. I could always use my old saw if needed, but I'd prefer to stick to one saw if possible. I'd love to hear from anyone who has experience with either or both sizes and their thoughts on which one I should choose.

I’ve got the 6.5" model and I really like it! I prefer blade left saws, which works great for me. But since you’re a pro, I'd suggest going for the 7.25". It’s always better to have more power available, especially for tough jobs. Also, check if your local Home Depot has both models on display; it's worth trying them out first! Just a heads up, though, I’m not a fan of the clicky triggers on both models; I wish they were softer to touch.

Thanks for the tips! How does the 6.5" perform on long rips for framing? Did you switch from an older model, and how does it compare?
