Hey everyone! I'm moving into a new place with a 20'x20' garage in Los Angeles, which I'll be using as a combined gym and woodshop. I've got a 240v outlet set up and I'm planning to buy a table saw and a dust collector. My dilemma is whether I should invest in a 3hp table saw or a more powerful dust collector. Can I plug both high-powered tools into the same outlet? From what I've read, I'm worried about the startup currents tripping the breaker if I try to use both at once. Given that I'm aiming for a mobile setup and will usually be plugging one tool in at a time, what are your thoughts on this? Right now, I'm leaning towards getting the 3hp SawStop PCS along with a 1.5hp dust collector like the Oneida mini gorilla. Any advice?

Since you’re mini-gymming in there too, I'd argue the dust collector is super important. You don’t want sawdust getting all over your treadmill! Plus, if you can take tools outside for cutting, that’ll really help with dust control.
I've run 240 volt tools from my dryer outlet before, so it can definitely be done. Just remember, typically you don't want to run multiple 240 outlets on a single circuit.
Good to know! I do have several 120v outlets around the garage for extra lighting and power.
It really depends on the gauge of the wiring you have. You might be able to use both tools if you add a new breaker, but definitely consult with an electrician first. 240v capacity can vary a lot!

Using a 110V dust collector should be totally fine for a small shop where you're not sucking up dust from a long distance. Plus, if you're concerned about space, you could always install another outlet without much hassle.
Yeah, running ducting would be nice but I’m with you on keeping everything mobile. A smaller dust collector seems like a solid plan.
Absolutely! I’m planning on utilizing air filters as well to keep the air clean.
