Choosing Between Solid and Multi-Wall Polycarbonate for My Balcony Privacy Screen

I'm building a privacy screen on my balcony to block the view from a rental place next door. I've installed metal posts and have a 110cm wide by 210cm high privacy screen using a 5mm solid polycarbonate panel. However, I've noticed this panel is a bit too flexible for my liking. I want to use a different material for three more panels of the same size but can't go thicker since the current panel is already heavy. I saw some multi-wall polycarbonate panels that are 16mm thick, with options like an X shaped cross-section or multiple parallel layers, and they weigh about half of what my solid panel does. I'm curious if these multi-wall panels would be stiffer and hold up better on their own. Also, any tips on which cross-section to choose and how to handle the exposed edges would be appreciated!

Does it really need to be clear? If you're okay with something opaque, metal clad foam insulation can be a lightweight and strong option. You might also want to look at FRP liner panels or even those transparent corrugated poly panels often used in greenhouses—they're quite durable!

I've got a window well cover made from 12mm multi-wall polycarbonate, and I think you could even stand on it. Just a heads up, it does collect dirt in the channels which might be a hassle if it's close to the ground.

Did you drill any holes for mounting on that cover? How did it hold up?

I've used 5-wall panels for windows, and they're very sturdy. My sections are around 4x6 feet, and they feel completely solid. I definitely recommend them!

Did you have to drill holes in the panels for mounting? How did that work out for you?
