Hey everyone! I'm in the market for an impact wrench but I need to stick to a budget. I've been hearing a lot of buzz about the cordless stubby model, but I'm curious whether it's tough enough for my particular situation. I'm dealing with a rusted-out car where almost every bolt is seized, and my breaker bar isn't cutting it anymore; it tends to strip the bolts since I can't keep it straight. So, is the stubby really good for tackling seized bolts? Thanks for any advice!

I’ve been using a stubby as my go-to tool, and it has served me well for daily tasks. However, given your needs, I’d recommend the M18 High Torque instead. It’s better suited for those stubborn cases you’re dealing with.
Before you start wrenching, it could really help to treat those bolts with some penetrating oil a few days in advance. Kroil works like magic, but if you want a cheaper option, mix acetone and ATF in a 50/50 ratio. Just make sure to coat those bolts and let it soak! And by the way, you might end up needing replacement bolts, so check out your local Tractor Supply for some good-grade options.
Definitely go for the M18 High Torque model! Trust me, you won’t regret it. Check out the specifics [here](https://www.milwaukeetool.com/Products/2967-20) if you’re curious about the features.
I tried using a stubby on a seized lug nut, and it ended up stripping it as well. What really helped me was using an extractor kit along with a long breaker bar that I extended with a PVC pipe for extra leverage. Also, don’t forget to soak the bolts in WD-40 or PB Blaster, and heat them a little. If you need an extractor, the Amartisan Impact Bolt Extractor from Amazon worked wonders for me!

Great tip on the extractor! I’ve had similar luck with long breaker bars and applying heat.
