Choosing the Right Torque Setting for My M18 Mid-Torque Impact

Hey everyone! I just got the M18 1/2" Mid-Torque Impact and I'm a bit confused about the four torque settings—1, 2, 3, and Auto Shut Off. The specs say settings 1, 2, and 3 can handle up to 350, 450, and 550 ft-lbs respectively, while the Auto Shut Off can go up to 35. I plan to use it for lug nuts that I hand torque, so I'm thinking the Auto Shut Off might be best? But do the other settings really reach those torque levels? Would love to hear your thoughts!

You’re spot on with using Auto Shut Off for lug nuts! It’s a great choice to avoid over-torquing. The torque specs given are a bit optimistic in real-world scenarios; they usually work at about 70-80% of what they claim. Just be careful not to overtighten, as it can damage lug nuts!

Wow, that’s good to know! Did you ever mess up a lug nut with yours? I'm just trying to avoid pitfalls as I switch to a high torque.
