Comparison Between 9Ah and 12Ah Flex Volt Batteries

I've come across some discussions where folks aren't too happy with the runtime of their 12Ah Flex Volt batteries, saying it's not significantly longer than what they get with the 9Ah batteries. I'm currently using a 9Ah and trying to figure out if it's worth it to upgrade to a 12Ah for my tools, or if I should just grab another 9Ah instead. I primarily use these for my miter saw and air compressor, so I'd love to hear from anyone who owns both and can share their honest comparison between the two.

I've had three 9Ah and three 12Ah batteries. Honestly, the 12Ah ones failed within the first year, and I've had to replace one under warranty, which also failed. My 9Ah batteries are still going strong; the oldest one is four years old. From what I've read, the 12Ah uses Samsung 40T cells, which don't seem as reliable or durable as the 30T cells in the 9Ah. I thought the idea of a 12Ah in the same size was great, but I wouldn't buy another until they fix the cell issue.

Yeah, all my 12Ah batteries also crapped out in the first year. My three 9Ah batteries from 2017 are still working like a charm!

I only use 12Ah batteries, and they last way longer than the 9Ah ones I had. I've used them in my table saw, miter saw, compressor, and even for my SDS Max. They're great for keeping my tools running longer without swapping batteries.

I've got three of each, and I have to say the 12Ah batteries last much longer in my blowers, like surprisingly so. I'm really satisfied with them, especially after pushing them hard this winter.

Totally agree! The 12Ah also really shine with the angle grinder. If they ever produce a tabless version, that'd be the ultimate battery, especially since some others have reported quick failures with theirs too.
