Hey everyone! I recently started refinishing my hardwood floors, and I have a question about the finishing process. The contractor began with two coats of Bona natural sealer after sanding, and I was really happy with how it looked. We had initially planned to apply two coats of Pall-X Gold finish. However, now I see that they put on one coat of Pall-X Power instead and are set to apply the final coat of Pall-X Gold tomorrow. This was not what we discussed, and I'm feeling a bit anxious about it. Should I be worried about this change, or is it generally okay?

It really depends on what your contract states. If it specifically mentions two coats of Gold finish, then that could be a concern. But mixing finishes like this is usually fine; it's just that most people are accustomed to sticking with the same type for consistency.
You really don't need to worry about this! Pall-X Power is actually a durable 2-component finish that's often used as a build coat before the final coat. So applying it first and then adding the Gold as the final layer is a solid choice and might even enhance the durability compared to just using Gold alone. If you’re liking the look now, the Gold will give you that smooth, even finish you were aiming for. Just double-check with your contractor to ensure this approach was intentional, but it’s definitely a common method!

I appreciate the reassurance!
