I'm working on an off-grid solar setup with an EG4 6000XP and a 14kWh battery, but I'm running into a bit of a dilemma. I've acquired some used solar panels quite cheaply, but my wife isn't too keen on having them cluttering the yard. I don't want to put them on the roof since it's costly and requires permits. I already have three panels set up vertically on the ground, but I'm not getting enough output to fully recharge my batteries. I'm thinking of building a cart to wheel out 4-6 panels when it's sunny, so I can just store it out of sight when we have guests. Has anyone tried something like this? I'd love to hear your thoughts and if you've built something similar!

I do see some potential challenges with your idea. The cart needs to be really strong and stable to withstand strong winds; otherwise, you risk damaging the panels. Also, have you thought about where you'll store the cart and panels when you're not using them? They’ll take up a lot of space. Plus, connecting and disconnecting live panels could be tricky; if there's a gust of wind while you're moving them, it could end badly!
That sounds like an awesome idea! The only thing to watch out for is the weight of the panels—mine are about 60 lbs each and quite fragile. Make sure whatever cart you build has a sturdy frame; aluminum would be a great choice, and consider using larger caster wheels to make it easier to move around. I'm also planning to set up some ground-mounted panels at my place, so I’m curious to see how your cart turns out!

I was thinking of using wood skids and making a wooden cart with big wheels like you mentioned. My panels weigh around 45 lbs each.
