Could This Be Powdery Mildew on My Succulent?

I was wondering if the issue on my succulent's stem is powdery mildew or something else entirely. I've attached photos for reference! Before I cleaned it, there was a thick, chalky layer spread uniformly over the stem, not splotchy at all. There's only a little bit on the leaves, mainly because I moved the stem around. The plant has started losing some lower leaves, but I'm not sure if that's linked to this problem. I'm quite a novice with succulents, and I'm worried I might be harming it. Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

It seems like what you're dealing with might actually be a protective film from a Kalanchoe species, like Kalanchoe Luciae or Thyrsiflora. These plants often have a thick farina that acts like sunscreen, so don’t wipe it off! It's actually beneficial for your plant.

Exactly! It's the plant’s way of protecting itself from sunburn, so you're all good.
