I'm thinking about taking down my old shed since it's pretty much falling apart in the back. I'm looking for some creative ideas on how to repurpose the wood once I tear it down. I'd love to make some planters for herbs, particularly because half of my garden stays shady all the time. I've also heard about breaking down the wood to make mulch, but I'm not sure how practical that would be for my small garden. I was even considering building a pergola, but I worry the thinner boards might not hold up well.

If that wood is rotting, there might not be too much you can salvage. Treated wood isn’t great for mulch or compost either, so I’d recommend checking the wood’s condition before diving into any projects. You might end up needing to take most of it to the dump!
I turned my old shed into a compost bin! It worked out really well for my garden. Even if you already have a compost setup, you could think about building a small storage unit for your gardening tools. It’s handy and keeps everything organized!
