Hey everyone! My friend is finally giving woodcarving a try after being hesitant for a long time. She's looking to create a special birthday gift for her dad and wants something creative. I suggested starting with spoons or chopsticks, but she thinks those are too basic. Do you have any unique project ideas that would be suitable for a beginner in woodcarving? Thanks for your help!

It could be great to incorporate something her dad enjoys! Maybe she could check out some YouTube tutorials for guidance. I’ve seen a lot of people rave about the fox carving tutorials from 'Carving is Fun.' Those might spark some creativity!
As a beginner, I recently found some amazing ideas on Pinterest! In particular, I saw really cool wooden rings and mushroom carvings that looked doable. If she's ambitious, she might even want to try making a figurine!
How about carving a favorite animal of her dad’s or a symbol from a beloved hobby or movie? A small figure that represents him could be really special too!
That's a sweet idea! Personalized projects always have that extra touch. Plus, it makes it more meaningful.

Those rings sound fun! It’s awesome to have variety for different skill levels.
