Dealing with a Sweaty Smell from the Dryer

Hey everyone! I've been living in my apartment for over a year, and I've recently started to notice this weird sweaty smell coming from my dryer. Although I use dryer sheets and my clothes smell fine, the dryer itself has been giving off this unpleasant odor. I've already cleaned the vent hose and the lint trap really well, plus I try to leave the door open to air it out when I'm not using it. But now it seems like the smell is spreading in the area around it. Does anyone have advice on how to tackle this issue?

It sounds like you've done a good bit of cleaning, but you might want to check if you’ve cleaned out the duct that goes from the dryer to the outside. That can sometimes trap moisture and cause smells. Also, if you can, consider cleaning the inside of the dryer cabinet since lint can gather there too which can contribute to odors. Just remember to unplug it before you do any of that!

Thanks for the tip! I cleaned the duct a month ago and even replaced some attachments, but I haven’t touched the inside of the dryer cabinet yet. I’ll definitely look into that!
