Hey everyone! I was cleaning up my mailbox today and started sanding it down when I noticed some serious rot in one section. Ants have also made a home inside it. I managed to remove most of the rotted wood, but it still feels a bit damp inside. I'm wondering if the area is too large for epoxy or wood filler since I'd prefer to use that. Additionally, I know I need to seal it afterward, but I'm not sure which type of sealer would work best, especially considering the high humidity in Virginia. Any advice? Thanks a ton!

Honestly, it might be time to replace the mailbox if the rot has spread too far. Check the post to see if the rot has affected it as well; if it has, replacing the whole mailbox could save you more trouble later.

Looks like it’s gone about an inch into the pole. Do you have any good recommendations for a new mailbox? I currently have a Walpole, but I noticed they only offer cellular vinyl options now.
