Dealing with Strong Kilz Primer Odor on Subfloor—What Can I Do?

I recently painted my wood subfloor with Kilz primer to eliminate some pet odors. It's been about 36 hours since the application, and despite having the windows open and fans running, the smell is still really strong. I'm wondering if I need to paint over it with something else before I lay down my new wood laminate flooring. I really want to avoid any lingering primer smell once the new floor is in. Any advice?

If it's really overpowering, try cracking a window if you haven't already. When I did this, it helped a ton. Just keep ventilating the area—standing primer odors can last up to a week, but fresh air should speed things up a bit!

The windows have been open since we applied it. We're putting in wood laminate at the end of the week.

In the future, consider using Kilz Restoration or PPG Gripper primers. They don’t have that strong smell! For now, you're probably best off just waiting it out though.

I went with what my painter suggested this time. Hopefully, I won't need to do this again, but I'll look into those if I do!
