Hey everyone! I'm a weekend DIYer diving into woodworking and I need some help choosing between the DeWalt DWE7492, which is corded, and the DCS7485, a cordless option. My garage is pretty cramped and I don't have a dust extraction system yet, so I prefer to work outdoors when the weather's nice. I plan on getting a rolling stand to make transportation easier.
I love the idea of going cordless, but I'm curious if the DCS7485 would work well for my casual use in a smaller workshop. I won't be using it for long periods—only a few hours at a time—not continuous cutting. Is the cordless model suitable for someone like me, or is it mainly geared toward quick jobs on job sites? I'm also worried about battery limitations.
I've read some similar threads, but I'm still seeking a clear answer about battery life for this type of work. Eventually, I'd love to build or find a dedicated workshop space. I'm also thinking about getting a miter saw, and I'll be weighing both corded and cordless options, although my planer will definitely need to be corded.
Given my setup, which table saw would you suggest? Looking forward to your thoughts! Thanks!

Cordless tools have definitely improved, especially with battery and brushless motor tech, but some tools really shine with a cord. It often just depends on the specific tool and its intended use.
If your workspace is inside or just outside the garage, using an extension cord will probably be cheaper and more practical than relying on batteries. Corded models tend to have consistent power without the worry of battery life.
Having tried both 10" corded and 8 1/4" cordless, I’d say go for the DCS7485 if portability is key for you. It’s lighter and fits better in smaller spaces without sacrificing too much power.
I have a small shop, under 100 sq ft, and found that the DWE7491RS (the 10" model with a rolling stand) was a hassle to set up and move around, which was really frustrating.
Thanks! But how's the battery life for your work? Does it limit what you can do?

I get that, but I like the freedom of cordless tools where it’s feasible. Just nervous about the battery issues!
