Did I Break My Table Saw? Seeking Troubleshooting Tips!

Hey everyone! Last night, I was working on a project and making some thin-rip cuts with my Ryobi BTS20R-1 table saw. I had a jig set up for support, and everything was going well until I tried to make cuts on a thicker board. I raised the blade higher for the thickness but didn't realize the teeth were hitting a plastic featherboard attached to the fence. I fired up the saw, and it made a scary noise and vibrated before I switched it off. Now, it won't turn on at all, despite checking the circuit and the surge protector. Has anyone encountered this before? Any suggestions for troubleshooting? I'd really appreciate your help since I can't afford to replace it right now!

It sounds like you might want to check the switch first. You can take it off and connect the leads directly to see if the motor starts. If it does, your switch is toast, but that’s a pretty easy fix! If the motor doesn’t turn on, you may have burned it out. I’d suggest just getting a replacement instead of digging deep into repairs unless you really want to.

Thanks for the tip! I’ve read that the switches on these models can fail, so I'm hopeful it might just be that!
