Did I Mess Up My Raised Garden Bed for Tomatoes?

So, I built a raised garden bed that's 18 inches deep to give my tomatoes room for their roots to grow, but I filled half of it with logs and leaves to save on soil costs. Now I'm worried because I've only got 9 inches of soil left for the tomatoes. Should I dig it all out to remove the logs?

You’re totally fine! The logs will actually help retain moisture and your tomato roots can eventually grow into them. Tomatoes are pretty resilient, and once they get going, they grow like crazy!

No sweat! I’ve had similar setups with taller beds, and I’ve found that the mix of logs and soil works well. My tomatoes thrived in beds where half the height was just logs and leaves. They’re adaptable, and you shouldn't have any issues!
