Hey everyone! I've taken on the task of planting my mom's big garden this year since she's super busy. I'm really concerned that I've missed the window to start her seedlings. Normally, she would have them going in the greenhouse by now. Is it too late for me to start? Can I still plant them directly in the ground? What can I get started right now, given that I'm on the border of zones 6B and 7A? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Have you started seeds before? It's not that it's too late, but starting seeds can be quite the task! If you've got instructions from your mom, that helps. If not, you could consider picking up seedlings from a store for things like peppers and tomatoes, while direct sowing things like cucumbers and squash into the garden.
You’re definitely not too late! Here in zone 7A, our last frost usually hits around early May, so you can still direct sow your spring crops anywhere from late April to early May. Just know it's probably too late for cool weather crops now, but there's plenty you can still plant!
Most nurseries sell plant starts, which might be the easiest route for you. Plus, many veggies can be directly seeded if your soil is warm enough—think along the lines of squashes, beans, and root vegetables!
No worries, you haven’t missed much! You might be late for super early crops like big cabbages, but there’s still a lot you can start now, like peppers and tomatoes. Just get on it soon if you can. Interestingly, you can also still direct sow cool weather crops like peas and radishes now. You'll be okay as long as you plant according to your last frost date!
Exactly! I’ve also waited until later in the season and still had a great harvest. Just keep an eye on the timing!

Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely check out the local nurseries.
