Did I Prune My Beefsteak Tomatoes Too Much?

I think I might have overpruned my beefsteak tomatoes. I pruned up from the bottom to the yellow flowers but left those. However, I read that I was supposed to keep the leaves underneath too, and now I've cut those away. Will my plants be okay, or is there something I can do to fix this?

I always prune up to the first set of flowers too, and it works like a charm! Your beefsteaks should do just fine with the growth they've got.

Exactly! You might even find that they thrive with less competition from leaves.

Yep, tomatoes are pretty resilient! Just keep an eye on their growth.

Your plants should be just fine! I usually just prune the side branches I can't support and remove only a few lower leaves from my indeterminate types. For determinate or dwarf varieties, I do the same but less aggressively. You might want to check out 'Epic Tomatoes' or find Craig LeHoullier on YouTube; he's got some great advice!

No worries! They'll probably bounce back. Tomatoes are really tough when it comes to this kind of stuff, so you shouldn't stress too much about it.
