Did My Builder Mess Up by Skipping Sill Gaskets?

I've just noticed that my home builder skipped installing sill gaskets, sill sealers, and the foam barrier between the concrete foundation and the sill plate. There's a visible crack where you can even see daylight. The siding is already up on the other side, so I'm really wondering how serious this issue is for my home. How much of a problem do you think this could be?

This could definitely be a significant problem, especially based on your climate. The main concern is that without the sill gasket, the sill plate could rot since it’s in direct contact with the concrete. Even pressure-treated wood can be at risk if there's any moisture. It’s crucial to address it now. If you can see the crack, maybe try to fit something waterproof between the foundation and sill plate. But it does raise the question of why there's such a visible gap! If your area is pretty humid, I would definitely recommend caulking around the joint before the drywall goes up to prevent any air leaks.

You really should get an inspector to look at this situation. If you catch it early, they might have some solutions to prevent future rot of the sill plate. Plus, I'd be worried about what else might have been overlooked during construction. It's better to check now than to find issues later!
