Did We Get Good Value for Our Home Renovation?

I recently undertook a renovation on my 1300 sq ft house and spent around $20,000 total, covering materials, a general contractor, and painters. The work included installing 1200 sq ft of LVP flooring, replacing baseboards and trim everywhere, redoing the staircase with new posts, bannisters, spindles, and treads (including staining), and painting about 90% of the house. We're really pleased with the results and chose high-quality paints and materials at competitive prices. Do you think spending $20k was a reasonable investment?

I have to ask, what was under the LVP? And why did you replace the baseboards? Sounds like you did a lot of demo work!

We removed the old laminate, and the previous trim and baseboards were in rough shape. The LVP is sitting directly on the subfloor, except we just laid it over the ceramic tile in the kitchen since it was level enough.

Honestly, I think you did great! For all that work, $20k sounds pretty reasonable, especially since you love how it turned out. Quality materials usually pay off, and it sounds like you really put in a solid effort. Good job!
