Differences in Packaging for Genuine DeWalt 12Ah Flexvolt Batteries?

Hey folks! I'm in the market for a DeWalt 12Ah Flexvolt battery, but I've been warned about counterfeits online, particularly on sites like eBay. I want to make sure I'm getting the real deal based on how it's packaged. I've noticed that some YouTube unboxings show the batteries in a proper retail box, while others are just sealed in plastic wrap. For those of you who've bought genuine 12Ah Flexvolt batteries before, do they only come in that retail box, or is it also normal for them to come wrapped in plastic? Is the plastic wrap a sure sign of a fake? Any insights would be appreciated!

It's pretty rare to find counterfeit 12Ah batteries, and if you want to be safe, always buy from authorized dealers. That said, keep an eye out for deals; I saw a crazy sale at Home Depot for $150 a couple of months ago! As the design cycles out, you might find more sales like that. If the battery’s expensive and you want to avoid fakes, just hold off until you see a sale at trusted stores.

When you mention plastic, are you talking about clamshell packaging? They did use plastic clamshells for a while until they switched to cardboard boxes. I received a few warranty replacements in clamshells last year, so it's not uncommon to see that type of packaging if you're looking at older stock. Just check where you're buying from!
