Hey everyone! I'm in a tough spot with my contractor after renovating my home. Initially, the bid for my addition was $303k, but at the end of the project, they handed me a bill with an additional $143k! They've added costs for things like $5k for extra dumpsters, $10k extra for cabinets they sent me to buy at Lowe's (which were actually on sale!), and even $4k more for gutters because I asked for a match to my existing ones. Not once did they mention these extra charges during the process. I'm really confused about how they expect me to just have an extra $143k! This company is well-known, and there were also issues with the quality of their work. I thought the contract stated it would cover the addition of gas to the fireplace, but they charged a lot more to move the lines without informing me. I'm feeling quite devastated by all of this. How is it even possible for them to do this?
