Hey everyone! My husband has been meaning to finish the bathroom cabinet for ages—like, a whole decade! It seems the previous owner also intended to put in drawers and doors, but it's still bare. I've painted the existing structure white and we just want to keep it simple with white doors.
I'm looking for the easiest way to tackle this project. I have some basic skills when it comes to sawing, hammering, and drilling, and I'm up for learning new things.
I figured I could order pre-made white doors that fit, but I'm a bit intimidated about moving the vertical support piece (what's that called?) to the center. For anyone who has done this kind of work, I'd really appreciate any tips or advice before diving in. I know people who are handy often have ideas that I wouldn't think of. Thanks a million! If you want to move that vertical board (called a stile), just leave it where it is and mount your doors. Removing it may create gaps and could complicate things since it's likely secured with screws and glue. If you try to cut it out, you may not be able to reattach it perfectly. My suggestion? Measure that area, buy your cabinet doors, and you might want to hire a local handyman from your community group to help you out with the tricky parts.
A cabinet door mounting jig can be a real lifesaver! I wish I’d had one for my kitchen cabinet doors—ours ended up crooked, so it’s a hassle now. Look into it, watch a few tutorials, and it should make your job much easier.
Ok even just having 'cabinet door mounting jig' to look up is super helpful. Thank you!
I recommend keeping that support bar where it is—removing it isn't a good idea because it helps support the weight of everything on the countertop. You'd need that for heavy items, like pots of water.
Right, good to know. Thanks!

Yes, you're so right about that board being in there really well! It’s definitely glued and screwed in. I think I’ll measure and buy the doors, then bring in some extra help for the rest.
