DIY Charging Dock for Milwaukee Batteries: Need Some Advice

Hey everyone! I'm interested in making my own charging dock from an HD case since the Milwaukee 6 charger is too bulky for my taste. I'm wondering if anyone has insights on how the charging process works—specifically, what regulates when a battery is considered full so I can avoid damaging it. I've already calculated the total amps I need, accounting for heat losses, but would love to hear tips from anyone who's attempted a similar project. Thanks!

If you're planning to build your own dock, I suggest getting a few genuine Milwaukee M18 chargers. You can usually find some cheap used ones. Take apart the chargers to use the electronics and terminals. It's the easiest way; then just plug them into a power strip with a circuit breaker and use aftermarket adapters for your batteries. This lets you focus on the construction part without stressing over the electrical side. Just ensure everything is securely mounted, insulated, and properly ventilated. Ventilation is key, so make sure there's airflow to prevent overheating but also consider safety to avoid accidents. Good luck with your project!
