I've got a skin allergy to dust and two cats, and I'm absolutely fed up with the constant cleaning. I vacuum and mop my place, but there's always dust and hair the very next day. I know there's no magical solution to eliminate all the dust, but I'm wondering if an air purifier could help reduce it significantly. Has anyone actually used one? Did you see any real differences, or is it just a scam?

Air purifiers can definitely be effective, but it’s key to get the right kind. Many cheap models are just fans with simple filters that won’t capture much. Look for a true HEPA-rated purifier, as they can catch 99.97% of particles including dust mites. Also, you'll still need to keep cleaning regularly since dust settles quickly. Make sure it’s appropriately sized for your room too!
Yeah, they work! I used to think they were a gimmick too, but after experiencing bad air quality due to fires, I grabbed a couple and noticed an improvement almost immediately. Plus, I've seen how much dust collects on the filters I change regularly. Definitely worth it if you have allergies!
Absolutely, air purifiers work! I got one for the heavy wildfire smoke here in Canada, and it made a big difference, especially for sleeping. We ran it in our bedroom, which really helped when the situation was worse. It doesn't eliminate dust entirely, but it definitely helps cut down on it, especially in the rooms you use the most.
