Do Dust Collectors Really Help with Dust Control?

I'm currently using a Makita shop vac and a DIY cyclone made from two buckets for dust control. It's working okay for my small tools, but not so much for larger equipment like my DeWalt contractor saw, miter saw, and planer. I'm considering investing in a dust collector, but it would need to be 120V. I'm curious if a dust collector would really make that much of a difference in managing dust, or if there's something else I should keep in mind instead.

Absolutely, a dust collector makes a huge difference! I recently upgraded to a Laguna P|Flux 3 and it's a game changer. That said, I still keep my shop vac for smaller tools. It's just smart to have both types since each works best for different setups.

Totally agree! I have my shop vac for smaller ported tools and my Delta dust collector for the bigger stuff. Even though my shop is small, I can easily roll the collector around to where I need it.
