I'm in the process of building a tool chest and need to glue up some boards for the dovetailed carcass. I'm wondering if there are any special considerations I should keep in mind regarding glued joints. I plan to avoid putting dovetail pins or tails on the glue lines. My plan is to glue jointed boards side by side, like you would for a panel, but leave them a bit overlong before trimming to length and cutting the dovetails. Any advice?

I do find that glue lines can be a bit distracting, especially if there's a noticeable difference in wood color between the boards. It's something to consider, but overall, once glued, the panel should hold up just fine!
You should be totally fine with glue lines. Remember, the glue is actually stronger than the wood itself! Just ensure that the edges are making good contact during the gluing process.
Honestly, I've never worried about avoiding glue lines. Once the panel is glued up, I treat it as one solid piece of wood. Just make sure to share pics of that tool chest when you're started!
