Hey everyone! I'm planning to lay down some stone edging pavers to spruce up the edges of my garden. I've been binge-watching tons of YouTube videos, but things are getting a bit confusing. I want to know if I need a paver base and sand underneath the stones, or if I should use mortar instead. If mortar is necessary, what type should I go for? Thanks for the help!

For my stone pavers, I used a combination of crushed stone and a paver base underneath. I also applied mortar along the edges of my patio to keep everything secure. It’s held up great for 9 years! So yeah, base and sand can work, and don’t forget that mortar can really help with stability on the edges.
Installing stone pavers is definitely rewarding, but you need to make sure your base is well-compacted and level. This prevents shifting and cracks later on. If your project is larger, consider using a string line to align everything nicely. Leave space for sand between the pavers to allow for drainage, and once they're laid down, compact them well. This job might require some patience, but the result can elevate your outdoor space like a pro did it!
