Do I Need a Concrete Footing for My Short Brick Planter?

I'm building a brick planter in my backyard that's about 2 feet tall and 3x24 in size. Initially, I thought I'd need concrete footers for it, but a landscaper mentioned that just tamped gravel would be sufficient for a planter of this size. Does anyone have experience with this? What's the best approach for stability?

Your landscaper's advice is spot on! For a planter of that size, tamped gravel should work well enough unless you're dealing with some really unstable ground.

It depends on the type of bricks you're using. If you're planning on using red bricks with mortar, you'll want a solid concrete base. But if you're using dry stacked landscape blocks, tamped gravel should do the trick. Just make sure you have at least 6 inches of gravel to ensure good drainage and stability!

I was thinking of using stacked landscape blocks with some masonry glue to keep them together.
