Do I Need a Front Door If I Expand My Garage in Arizona?

I live in a house that accommodates 4 cars, but there's only room for 2 in my current garage. I'm considering expanding the garage to cover the entire front of the house, which would eliminate the front door. Would this be legal in Arizona?

You might want to consider how this impacts your home's resale value. It could drop significantly without a front door. Instead of going for a full enclosure, maybe think about expanding the garage sideways or adding a carport instead?

That's a solid suggestion! Keeping up the curb appeal while also maximizing space makes total sense.

You should definitely check with your local permitting office. The legality can really depend on your local code. Most places have specific requirements regarding egress doors and setback regulations for garages, so a permit is a must!

It's great you're thinking ahead, but just a heads-up: local code usually requires at least one egress door for safety reasons. That means as long as you have another compliant door somewhere in the house, you should be okay—just double-check with your local building regulations!
