Do I Need Joist Hangers for My Structural Issue?

I'm dealing with about 8 joists that seem to be pulling away slightly from the beam they connect to. I had a structural engineer take a look, and he wasn't worried, but he suggested that I should install some brackets. I've already made two trips to the hardware store but haven't found what I need. Should I go with joist hangers? Is this something I should be more concerned about, or is it just a minor issue?

Your engineer is on point! Definitely put a joist hanger on or under each joist that’s pulling away. Just nail through the hanger into the beam that’s moving and into the joist it supports. You'll need to get the right size hanger for your joists, and grab some ten penny nails (10d). They really do work well! A brand like Simpson Strong-Tie is reliable. Good luck with the fix!

Thanks a lot! I ended up getting the hangers you suggested, so fingers crossed they do the trick!
